Before you begin
- Leave the chiller upright for 24 hours after delivery, to let the refrigerant settle. You can complete the rest of the setup during this time, but don't power the chiller on yet.
- Check that a filter is installed. Use the supplied filter wrench to remove the filter cap and confirm a filter is fitted.
- Set up your ice bath first. Follow the instructions for your Monk tub (or third-party ice bath) before connecting the chiller — don't fill the bath until the chiller is connected.
- Place the chiller under shelter, out of direct sunlight and away from heavy rain or snow.
Setting up
- Position your Shiver Pro on a stable surface near your tub. Attach a ball valve to the thread marked "Inlet" on the chiller. If you plan to use the chiller to drain your tub later (the fastest way to do it), also attach the three-way valve to the thread marked "Outlet."
- Connect the hoses from your tub to the chiller — connect the bath outlet to the chiller inlet, and the bath inlet to the chiller outlet. Think "opposites attract."
Open the valves on each hose. If you're using the three-way valve on the chiller outlet, make sure the valve on the unused branch is closed.
- Fill the tub with water until the level is higher than the chiller's outlet. Don't turn the chiller on until the water reaches this height — running it dry can weaken flow and damage the pump. (If you're using Cocoon, use the minimum fill line as your guide.)
- Turn on the chiller. It will automatically begin its priming cycle, filling the internal plumbing with water. Once that's complete, the compressor turns on and cooling begins.
If air gets trapped in the system during first-time setup (this is normal), it's easy to fix:
- Turn off the chiller and unscrew the drain cap using the wrench provided.
- Let the trapped air — and a small amount of water — flow out.
- Screw the drain cap back on.
- Turn the chiller back on to repeat the priming cycle.
