First and foremost, we advise that you leave your Monk Shiver chiller for 24 hours before setting it up. Like a fridge, we need to ensure your cooling unit settles after transit.
What's in the box?
Start by unpacking the Monk Shiver bath and chiller. You should find the following inside the boxes.
Box 1 - Monk Shiver Chiller
|
Box 2 - Monk Nomad Bath (If purchased)
|
Let's Get Started!
We'll start by setting up the bath, then we'll connect the chiller, fill the bath, and start chilling that water!
Positioning your Monk Shiver
Temperature: Your Monk Shiver is designed to operate in ambient temperatures between 1°C -45°C(34°F -113°F). lf the ambient temperature drops to 0°C(32°F), disconnect the pipes and open
the drainer to FULLY drain all water from the chiller to prevent freezing damage.
Electrical safety: Keep the chiller dry at all times. If your chiller is exposed to the elements, cover it from above, but do not block the fan or vent. It is IPX4 rated and resistant to light splashes. Do not immerse, spray, or splash water on the unit. If it becomes wet, unplug immediately and do not use.
Surface: Your Monk Shiver & Nomad should be placed on a hard, flat surface, where water cannot pool.
Space: Your Monk Shiver chiller has a vent on the side which must not be obstructed. Please leave at least 100cm of space around the vent, and keep this space clear of obstructions at all times
Signal: Your Monk is WiFi compatible, and this is required for app usage. Please ensure that it is placed within range of a 2.4Ghz WiFi signal.
Setting up the Monk Nomad bath
- Unpack and place your Monk Nomad bath on a flat, stable surface.
- Before your first use, wash the tub with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a clean cloth. Never use bleach or harsh cleaners – these can damage the materials and seals.
-
Ensure that the plug is secure in the water outlet valve, so that air doesn’t escape when you inflate the bath.
- Inflate the Monk bath body and lid using the supplied pump. Ensure the pump is fully inserted into the valve, and pump until fully inflated. We recommend a pressure of between 5-10 PSI (0.55 bar).
-
The pump is dual-action, meaning it inflates (or deflates) on both the up and down
strokes. This is faster, but gets harder as pressure builds. To switch to single-action mode (only inflating on the down stroke), simply unscrew and remove the cap.
-
- Once inflated, seal the valves to ensure no air escapes.
Setting up the Monk Shiver chiller
- Place your chiller on a stable surface near to your Monk Nomad bath (or third-party bath)
- Connect both water pipes to the bath and the chiller. One should connect the red inlet and the red outlet. The other should connect the green outlet and green inlet. Ensure the valves are tightly secured
- Using a hose over the side of the bath, fill with water to the level just above the circular green inlet on the inside of the bath.
- If you need to let out some water after, you can do this, however, in order for the chiller to prime correctly, the water level should be higher than the inlet to prime the chiller
- Check that the valves (the red taps) on both water pipes are open. The taps are open when they align with the pipe, and close when they form a cross with the pipe
- You're ready to prime the system.
- Locate the drain on your Shiver chiller. This is a small black screw cap on the lower right-hand side at the back of the chiller (see image below).
- If you're using the chiller indoors, place a tray or container beneath the drain to collect water as it flows out
- Open the drain and allow water to flow from the drain for 10-20 seconds. This ensures that the system is full of water and no air is trapped in it.
- Replace the drain cap. If you need to, close the red tap on the hoses briefly to stop the water flow, and reopen them after the screw is back on.
- Locate the drain on your Shiver chiller. This is a small black screw cap on the lower right-hand side at the back of the chiller (see image below).
- Turn on the chiller
- IMPORTANT: Plug the unit directly into a suitable AC wall socket (or a rated extension cable) that is grounded.
Setting the temperature
- On the chiller's control panel, press "Set"
- Use the up and down arrows to choose your desired temperature
- Press "OK"
- You can lock or unlock the control panel by holding the lock icon for 3 seconds
