Connecting your Shiver to WiFi

Follow the steps below to connect your Monk Shiver Chiller to the Monk App. 

Step One: Connect to WiFi using the Tuya Smart App 

(Don't worry, you only need to do this once! After the full setup is complete, you'll be able to control the chiller using the Monk App only)

1. Download the Tuya Smart App from the App Store or Google Play Store 

   

2. Select "Add a Device" from the top right corner of the home screen (+)

   

3. Select your Monk device from the available devices. If you can't see your device, press and hold the WiFi logo on the chiller for 3-5 seconds, or until the icon blinks, indicating that it's in pairing mode

   

   

4. Enter your WiFi details when prompted. This is your normal household WiFi network and password

   

Heads up: Shiver works only on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. It will not connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

When selecting your Wi-Fi, the network name itself often shows which band it’s using. For example:

• HomeWiFi_2.4 → ✅ This will work

• HomeWiFi_5G → ❌ This will not work

Please make sure you select the 2.4 GHz network before entering your password.

If you only see one Wi-Fi name listed (for example, just HomeWiFi), this usually means your router has combined the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands into one network.

When this happens, your phone may automatically connect to 5 GHz, which prevents Shiver from connecting.

5. Once connected to your dedicated 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network, the app will automatically connect to your chiller, and you’ll receive a confirmation message once the setup is complete.

Step Two: Connect to the Monk App

Now that your Shiver is connected to WiFi, we can pair it with the Monk App

1. Download and open the Monk App

2. From the home page, select "Sync Monk"

   

3. Select Monk Shiver from the product options displayed

   

4. You will be instructed to download the Tuya Smart app and connect the Shiver to your WiFi network, as shown in the steps at the top of this article. If you've done already done this, select the check box and then "Continue"

   

5. Next, locate the serial number of your chiller. This is printed on a the label on the outside of your Shiver Chiller. Enter it now and select "Continue"

   

6. That's it! You've now connected your Shiver Chiller to the Monk App. Now you'll be able to control your chiller, as well as track plunges via the Monk App
